Meliá Koh Samui: A Water Wonderland for Families

03/17/2025 by Kristin Addis Leave a Comment

If your idea of the perfect vacation includes endless water play, a pool so big it could have its own zip code, and a kids’ club that actually gives you a moment to breathe, Meliá Koh Samui is the answer. This resort is a paradise for water-loving families, and honestly, my baby may have had more fun here than I did. (Not bitter about it. Just stating facts.)

If you’re wondering whether to stay there during your stay in Koh Samui, truthfully we thought it was really enjoyable, both for baby and mama. Here’s why:

(By the way, we were hosted by Meliá Koh Samui as a travel advisor. After evaluating the property, we have no hesitation recommending it to you):

Water, Water Everywhere 💦

Meliá Koh Samui has the biggest pool on the island, and they clearly designed it with families in mind. There’s:

  • 🏊‍♂️ A massive lagoon pool that winds through the resort, complete with splash zones, a water slide, jacuzzi areas, and even a swim-up bar. (Because parents deserve fun, too.)
  • 🌊 Ground-floor rooms with direct access to the lagoon—perfect for kids who want to live their best mermaid life.
  • 👶 A giant main pool with an ankle-deep outer area, so little ones can splash safely while parents lounge nearby.
  • 🧘‍♀️ An adults-only pool, for those rare moments when you get to pretend you’re on a child-free getaway.
  • 💆‍♀️ A foot massage river. Yes, you walk through it, and yes, it feels just as amazing as it sounds.

If your kid is a water baby, this resort will be their version of Disneyland.

Virtuoso Perks When You Book with an Advisor ✨

Book through a Virtuoso advisor (like me!) and you’ll get:

  • 🎁 Free upgrade on arrival (if available).
  • ⏰ Early check-in and late check-out (because vacation should never feel rushed).
  • 💕 A personalized welcome amenity (because little touches make a difference).

An A+ Kids’ Club 🎉

The kids’ club here is fantastic. We’re talking:

  • 🏡 Two separate playrooms—one for toddlers and another for older kids.
  • 🤸‍♂️ An outdoor trampoline (instant energy burner).
  • 💦 A dedicated kids’ pool with splash zones and a water slide.
  • 🎨 A daily activity program and onsite nanny services.

It’s the kind of place where you drop your kid off “just for an hour” and suddenly realize you’ve been reading a book by the pool for the entire afternoon.

Food: A Family-Friendly Feast 🍽️

Breakfast is an event. The buffet has:

  • 🥣 A kids’ section with mini cutlery, cereals, fresh juice, and fruit.
  • 🍳 An egg station that makes exactly what you want, on demand.

For lunch and dinner, the beachfront restaurant is the best bet. The Spanish food is excellent, and the desserts are next-level. They provide coloring materials for kids, and while there’s a kids’ menu (think chicken nuggets and fish fingers), we preferred sharing our food with the baby.

Best part? Every Sunday evening, there’s a free fire show right in front of the restaurant—dinner and entertainment in one go.

Rooms: Comfortable and Kid-Ready 🏡

Rooms are spacious and come with baby-friendly amenities like:

  • 🛁 A baby cot, bathtub, potty, and sterilizer.
  • 🍽️ A high chair for easy in-room dining.

The presidential suite gets a play tent, but for most families, the lagoon-access rooms are the way to go. Kids can spend hours hopping in and out of the water, having the time of their lives.

One thing to note: the Boat Suites are off-limits for kids under six. But honestly, with how fun the lagoon rooms are, I wouldn’t have picked a boat anyway.

Beachfront Location (But Not Private) 🏖️

The resort is beachfront, but the beach isn’t private, so it can get a little busy. The water is calm, though, and if you want a break from resort dining, you can walk to nearby restaurants and bars.

Final Thoughts: Worth It?

If you have a water-loving kid, yes, absolutely. Between the giant pools, the fun kids’ club, and the beachfront location, Meliá Koh Samui is a fantastic choice for families. Plus, it’s actually affordable with rooms starting at $150/night. Get in touch to book it with extra complimentary perks.

It’s easy, fun, and packed with ways to keep everyone happy—which, in my book, is the ultimate travel win.

Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Would I be able to convince my baby to leave the lagoon next time? Probably not. But that’s a problem for future me.
